After much emailing and pointing out the poor sign up procedures they have given me a refund. So top marks for that. I still would not use this company ever again.

-1 star this is a response to your rubbish response, firstly I never recieved the welcome email until I went looking for it as it went straight to my junk folder. (Perhaps Google was in the know about your scam)

Secondly how about ypu put the part about the cost being taken before a purchase a bit nearer the top of the email.

Thirdly what’s with the s**t copy and pasted responses to the negative reviews ? You’ve robbed thousands of pounds from hardworking people and yet ypu can’t actually dignify us with a personal response.

Again to anyone thinking about using this lot please stay clear, they only aim to beat prices by a quid but ypu pay for postage.

Have had £90 taken from my bank account I only looked at the site out of interest I have been bombarded with unsolicited calls trying to get me to buy wine and rude telesales when I try to explain I was window shopping
AND THEY HAVE STILL TAKEN £90 !!!

0 stars - this is their typical response to hundreds of people they have wrongly taken £90 from - SCAM avoid at all costs and just go to your local supermarket instead !!!

I’m sorry! It’s mentioned in app setup, in your welcome email, and in Ts & Cs. Equivalent to £7.50 a month, the potential savings far outstrip the membership.

In light of your review, we’ll try to make the membership more clear so members fully understand what they’re getting into.

Please email jonny@winedrops.co.uk to see if we can resolve the complaint directly.

Awful company to deal with - I browsed the site for some wines - saw nothing I liked, on day 8 I noticed a pending charge on my Amex so got in contact with company to cancel membership yet they have still billed me for £90. A shocking Scam - AVOID THIS SHOCKING COMPANY

Yea its a scam. Free trial is a pre-curser to an unexpected £90 charge. They then fail to respond to any communication on the subject. Join up if you want to be robbed of £90 for nothing. It is amazing that they preach these amazing savings then basically rob you.

Also been scammed by this company.
“Free trial with nothing to pay till first order” I didn’t like any of the wines on “offer” so deleted the app. Still had £90 taken from my account so contacted customer services who have point blank refused to refund it, but since I’ve cancelled my membership I can’t even use the stupid app if I wanted to without signing up again?!! Now going through my bank to have the charge returned. Appalling customer service and business model!!

Definitely avoid this company. They take your card details without your knowledge when you download the app and use dark pattern design to hide the £90 subscription fee.

Once the money is taken, they’ll refuse to refund you (instead offering free wine) and stop responding to your messages. Incredibly poor experience and am considering reporting to trading standards.

BE VERY AWARE OF THIS COMPANY ! THEY LURE YOU IN, AND THEN YOU SUDDENLY HAVE AN AMOUNT TAKEN OFF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!

Shockingly bad service poor customer service and the wine offers available elsewhere without the need to pay a yearly subscription which they have refused to refund. Even after offering a week free trial, taking the money immediately and not refunding!

Absolute scam, didn’t sign up, said they just needed my card for Sign up and took £90. If they don’t refund my account then I’ll be requesting refund through my credit card

Scam artists! They took £90 from my account without any proper notice. The Ts & Cs are opaque at best and there seems to be no way to get a refund and cancel my subscription. Total scam - avoid!

took £90 for a service I don’t use and then stopped all contact when I ask for a refund. If I could give zero stars I would

All the wines I just bought in the app tell me I’m saving £94.59.

When I looked them up individually online, the saving was £0.00

Trying to figure out how to cancel my free trail and the app does not have this functionality at all. No idea how much after the trial period.

Money taken from account no welcome email stating £90 fee.
I have contacted regarding payment to be refunded and have not received anything back from the company, i can’t see a way of unsubscribing.

Absolute SCAM. Cancelled membership on day 10 - Who has a 10 day trial? - There was no time frame mentioned at sign up and there is no time frame mentioned in their T&Cs. Told that my membership fee won’t be refunded because I’ve cancelled outside of the trial. You can’t see what’s available until you sign up. Avoid at all costs. Very unsavoury business practices.

I rather stupidly joined but no response to any email or text. Paid my fee. Wish I hadn’t. Left naked wines to join…dont do it!!!! I certainly will be cancelling as soon as I possibly can…..

After seen this app pop up on my social media, and I am a big wine drinker, I thought I give it a look. Signed up, took a look but did not like it. This morning I get a notification that automatically they have taken £90 form my account!

I was not told over the phone that the £90 sign-up fee was non-refundable but now the website states that it is. the “savings” that they claim exist are absolutely non-existent and frankly fraudulant, the prices they list are available at multiple different retailers online.

customer service is terrible and frankly unresponsive - I would wholeheartedly reccomend that you do not sign up for this service!!!

My understanding was that my card details were only being taken if I intended to purchase. It wasn’t really clear what the amazing offers were from their advertising, so I applied for an exclusive membership. While I waited to be considered for the apparent privilege when all would be revealed, I received a few phone calls from their team but was unable to take them. At this point, I began to realise that this was little more than a sales funnel and that the impression they give isn’t authentic at all. So, I decided not to go ahead.

Checking my bank statements, I saw a deduction for £90. They now say this is made clear in their T&Cs and I can’t have a refund, but it was not made clear that this was the case. I haven’t used the service and don’t intend to; I didn’t even download the app. They will, however, offer me a £90 credit for a wine purchase that I don’t want to make and on wine that they claim they make no profit on, which clearly isn’t true.

In many unregulated industries, there’s often an illegal practice called “The Lump and Bump,” where a product or service is price inflated before discounting it to make it look like a good deal. I smell a rat here, so my advice is not to be taken in by fluffy sales patter. Make sure you read the terms, and I would give this company a wide berth. Don’t buy their overpriced wines; buy your wines in a trusted place.

If this has happened to you, see: Understanding the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. There is a cornerstone provision to deal with these rogue traders. Give them the chance to put it right, and if they refuse, contact your bank and they will do a chargeback. You will get all of your money, and it will cost them £25. I suspect with this kind of practice, they won’t last long

If there was an option to give 0 stars I would. This subscription seems good when it is first presented to you. However, the RRP price of the wines for some wines is higher than average in the supermarket making the price look better than it is.

Very poor customer service and customer satisfaction. After having a free trial and deciding this wasn’t for me, I requested to cancel my subscription over the phone. Then later being charged £90 for the annual subscription. I was advised by customer service that this cannot be refunded as it states in their terms and conditions. However, I requested to cancel this subscription therefore do not believe I am at fault. Very disappointed with the poor customer service regarding this issue. Stay clear.

I like it seems many others have been scammed by the £90 membership fee. In touch with customer services which seems to be a road to nowhere and have also reached out to the joint founders.

It seems like a great concept but with this shady stealth charging it lets you down.

Am in touch with the fraud team of my bank and will also take to small claims if needbe as this is now about principle.

Horrible company. Wish I’d read the reviews first. Pushy salesman. I checked out the app and didn’t want any of the wines (too expensive for me). £90 was taken from my account with no notice. They refused to refund me even after appealing to them twice, saying they’d made it clear that the subscription would be charged after the free trial (not true!). Luckily my bank is quick and good at dealing with disputes and refunded the money. Only then did I get a conciliatory email from the Winedrops guy.
