Avoid any dealings with this company. Until you download the app there is no mention that you are now enrolled in a ten day free trial and after this will be charged £90. There is no obvious way to avoid this on the app. To be fair, I emailed them to advise I did not wish to continue and they responded promptly. But since then I have hed repeated emails and now unsolicited calls. This is:
Dishonest by not making the charge much more transparent
Harassment when I have made it clear I wish not be be involved

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEY TAKE MONEY OUT OF YOUR BANK WITHOUT YOU KNOWING. £90 EVERY MONTH DO NOT USE THIS APP TOTAL RIP OFF

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Please beware. Do your research. They have conned so many people out of money by using deceptive tactics. The £90 membership is most definitely not worth it and the wine is not as cheap as you can buy elsewhere with no membership fee. This company will be closed down within the near future with the amount of complaints being submitted to the Financial Ombudsman.

I am most disappointed in Winedrops, they did not reply to my emails, and worst of all tried to take money with out my permission.

I’ve messaged you on LinkedIn - please reply by the end of the week in regard to taking a £90.00 bogus memberships fee from me.

I’m not a customer, I’m a victim of Fraud.

A little while ago my card was charged a surprising £90 fee for a service I hadn’t signed up for, from a company I didn’t know.
After some investigation and a call to the bank, the company in question turned out to be non other than Winedrops, a company that offers wine for less.

Suffering with Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency (A1AD) I have both COPD and Hepatomegaly (fatty liver disease and life limiting lung disease as a result of A1AD) suffice to say that the last thing in the world I would drink would be any beverage containing alcohol.

The bank (Virgin Money) were brilliant, and refunded the payment quickly having contacted winedrops and swiftly concluding their investigation. Winedrops then informed the bank that they were going to process a refund, and so the bank took back their money assuring me that winedrops would complete the refund withing three days or less.

However, the refund was never paid. Upon contacting winedrops, team member Joan Joh claimed that the bank had to complete their investigation, yet, the bank had already done this.

Asking the bank, they explained that they had already completed their investigation, and referred me back to Joh, who stuck to their guns and continued to lie to me about the bank needing to complete their investigation.

Joh then proceeded to inform me that it would take another nineteen days for the refund to be processed.

I am currently in the process of obtaining legal representation and taking these criminals to court in the hope this will stop them from doing this to other people!!

Mmmmm……interesting that you’ve taken a £90 subscription from an 17yr old???? Isn’t it illegal to sell to Minors?? Think a call to trading standards will be in order tomorrow about this

All you people out there that have been scammed out of 90 pounds go to your banks and do a charge back.

Scam! £90 membership charged, no wine. Very obscure on sign up that you get charged automatically and email goes to junk. Poor way to run a company and will not last unless they fix quick.

Wanted to review the app without providing my bank details was not possible, which was concerning as I didn’t want to be charged for items in my basket until payment time for example. I can see from reviews here others have been billed regardless

I replied to an email and a chain started and was pretty much told sign up and see during free trial

Scam company. Dark patent tactics used to deceptively get people to enter bank details in order to just view the app. £90 taken in a very deceptive fashion.

Complete scam, no warning to the charge and they refuse to refund even after repeatedly explaining that I have no intention to use the app/ service as I no longer drink alcohol.
Avoid this company

£90 membership fee buried in the 20th point in the terms and conditions, they then bill you one day after the period ends and refuse any refund. You can’t get into the app without the registration to even see what they’re selling.
Basically a membership sign up scam

Taking £1 that I didn’t notice from entering phone number into a website to view wine prices feels scam-ish and stressful, followed by £90 a few days later is a sales strategy I’d suggest Winedrops stops.
I contacted my bank and they resolved it. You have 24hrs to change your mind after the £1 but as you don’t notice it you miss the cancellation window. I went to my bank within 3 hours of the £90 being taken rather than wait for Winedrops as I got an email about an hour after I’d complained that I’d not signed up to £90 “club” charges. The email from Winedrops said £90 allows us to keep the lights on ( does in my house too) - the whole thing feels like a scam
But some people like the “club” I did hear twice from Winedrops, second mail said “ we can’t help you as you raised it with your bank”

Resolved now through my bank.

I have just cancelled my membership and I was immediately kicked out from the app I could only log-on if I registered again! If you are not willing to pay back my £90, how can you kick me out from the app, when I paid a subscription until the 31/08/2025???
This is just getting shadier. I just want a full refund for this service I never used, reported within 24 hours of being charged that I wanted a refund and was straight away kicked out from my 1 year membership that I paid for when I cancelled…..

Scam. Was charged £90 without permission. Did not receive any emails explaining the subscription terms. Now refusing to refund the £90 - contacting Amex to perform chargeback. Unethical, disgusting and nothing but a SCAM! Shame on you!

I had £90 taken from my account, and I had no idea that I even signed up for a free trial. I wasn’t clear when entering my details; I genuinely thought it was only required if I made a purchase of wine, similar to the Amazon app. I’m a single dad and need that £90 for my son’s birthday, which is in less than two weeks. I’m begging you, please, it’s been less than 24 hours since the money was taken out. They have asked I call so hopefully we can sort this out

Very deceptive practice to get money from people. They dupe you into getting £90 from you. I am in the process of trying to get this refunded. I hope to be able to write a more positive review once my money is refunded.

Been absolutely scammed!! Downloaded the app and I had to make an account to log in to have a look at wines. Then got charged £90!!! How inconsistent. Terrible app. It clearly says on the app if you do NOT WANT TO GET CHARGED PLEASE CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION! Then they still charge you

Matt hamill

Absolute scam. Downloaded the app and cancelled the next day- didn’t receive a notification but assumed it was done. I’ve now been charged £90 for an annual fee. Contacted for refund and then given £50 credit. When looking at wine; it you add to cart then you can’t remove and you commit to purchasing, but it won’t be sent until you have 6 bottles and then they charge for delivery. All the wine is falsely overpriced. Total scam of a business.
